Airport Road Community Celebration recapped
On Sunday the 6th of November 2016, the community of Plettenberg came together in celebration of the re-opening of the Airport Road all the way to the N2 – a milestone in the history of Plett and indeed worthy of celebration.
The Airport Road is not only an important tourist feature, it allows for access to the Plett airport from Plettenberg Bay and Knysna and to the beautiful Kranshoek community, hotels, function venues, wine farms and Plett activities in the surrounding Harkerville area. To commemorate this special day a once-off, one-of-a-kind community festival was held at Cairnbrogie Estates.
After enjoying a fun walk, which was arranged by the Waldorf Raphaeli School, everyone perused through vendors, offering kites, delicious foods, treats, arts and crafts, gardening, clothing, beauty accessories, Christmas decorations and so much more. There was also live music provided by local band ‘New Musical Ambassadors’.
Children were entertained all day by Raoul the stilt man, Puff the party pony, a jumping castle, an amazing waterslide, sand art, face-painting, hair-wrapping and hoola hooping. Cairnbrogie’s MTB cycle route and pump track will be open (extra charge).
The two tandem jumpers donated by Plett Skydive and the aerobatic ‘fly by’ courtesy of Plett Hangar Association was a great treat for all to see.
A big thank you goes out to Julia Halamandres for organising an amazing event.
