The Introductory Museum Studies Course (8 to 10 June) is presented by prof Matilda Burden, a lecturer in Cultural History at the University of Stellenbosch for the past 30 years.
This is a golden opportunity to expand your knowledge substantially without enrolling for a degree course.
The course focuses on cultural historical museums and includes subjects such as the role of museums in heritage conservation; the handling of material and non-material culture in museums; the functions of museums; the client base of museums; storage conditions of artefacts; management aspects; and museums as communication media.
