Extend your lashes without setting foot in a beauty salon.
Tyra Banks always advises people to smile with their eyes.
Start that journey with gorgeous lashes. Correctly applied, long eyelashes open up your face while giving you a pretty or seductive look, depending on the eye make-up you choose.
Lashes have never been as fashionable as right now and although many beauty therapists offer lash extensions that last for weeks, top-up treatments may be costly and not everyone feels comfortable with the semi-permanent results.
Here is how you can get that celebrity look with no hassle and the least amount of cash out of your pocket.
Measure up
False eyelashes should not be cut lengthwise, but across the width to ensure the lash sits comfortably on your eyelid.
A strip of lash that is too long will not only irritate your skin in the corners of your eyes but it will also make your eyes look smaller and droopy.
And that’s the opposite of what false lashes are meant to achieve.
Do’s and dont’s
Measure the lash against your eyelid before gluing it on. See how much of the strip sticks out beyond the comer of your eye and cut that off. Never try to trim lashes when they are already glued on.
Glue it right
Most false lashes come with special eyelash glue included.
If you want a really professional finish, try and find glue that dries clear or is black (to match the black of your eyeliner).
Your lashes will stay put the whole day while the glue is easy and safe to remove. Swipe on a very thin line of glue to the base (the strip part) of the false lashes.
Let it become sticky for 10 seconds before you put them on.
Do’s and dont’s
Only use glue meant for false lashes as it is safe for use on your skin and close to your eyes.
Apply it
Using either your fingers or tweezers, close your eyelids halfway and very carefully press the strip lash to your lash line, just above your own lashes. Try to get the false lash sitting as close as possible to your own lashes to get the most realistic effect. Scissor tweezers are perfect for people who are clumsy and struggle with smaller regular tweezers.
Do’s and dont’s
Apply lashes before eye makeup to make it easier to blend the make-up around the lashes and to avoid having dusty lashes.
