It pays to be a member of Knysna Tourism…
Knysna Tourism offers its members many benefits and advantages to conducting business within the tourism industry that their competitors lack.
“Making headway in today’s economy is difficult, to say the least,” said Knysna Tourism CEO Shaun van Eck. “However, we provide our members with many opportunities to do better business.”
“We have just come back from the Sport and Events Tourism Exchange held in Cape Town where we confirmed Knysna’s standing as the premierre eventing destination,” he continued. “We took some of our members along to promote their events and festivals. These members not only gained individual exposure, but made valuable national and international connections. Interest in these events will ultimately lead to feet in Knysna and bums in beds – which benefit our other members.”
“Knysna Tourism is present at most of the national shows such as the Getaway Show and Indaba, as well as international shows and roadshows,” van Eck explained. “At these shows we promote our beautiful town as a whole, as well as our members.”
“Our website is undergoing an extensive revamp and holds even more advantages for our members. Booking referrals take place through the site and we plan on showcasing local specials – at accommodation establishments, restaurants and activities, in a special section of the site soon.”
“We often host workshops for and discussions with our members on topics pertinent to better business within the tourism industry. One such opportunity is the Wake Up Shake Up talk on capitalising on the Black Diamond market which will be held at the Premiere Hotel on George Rex Drive on Tuesday 16 August,” said van Eck.
“This market is responsible for roughly 22%, or R130 billion of the estimated R600 billion cash spending power of South Africans and this talk by renowned professor John Simpson will empower those within the industry to communicate effectively with this market.”
“We remind all interested parties to RSVP with Janine Arendse at the Knysna Tourism office on 044 382 5510,” van Eck concluded. “This event is free of charge to paid up members of Knysna Tourism, while unaffiliated parties and those members who are in arrears with their membership fees will have to pay R20-00 at the door. Yet another benefit of being a member of Knysna Tourism!”
