The 8th Knysna Literary Festival an inspiring success
The 8th Knysna Literary Festival kicked off from the 16th till the 19th of March 2017, and this year’s line-up of authors was filled with interesting topics and workshops.
The Knysna Literary Festival, presented by Pam Golding Properties Knysna promotes South Africa’s rich literary heritage.
Literary enthusiasts had the chance to explore the creative minds of authors in small-group workshops and larger-group presentations. The diverse programme touched on adventure, history, current affairs and politics.
“The goal of the festival is to not only expose locals and visitors alike to South Africa’s literary talent, but also to stimulate the creative minds of students of the greater Knysna area, encouraging these young adults to make the most of their educational opportunities.” – Knysna Literary Festival.
ShowMe Plett/Knysna had the honour of attending Pieter Dirk Uys’s ‘The Echo of a Noise’, which was held at the White House in Plett on the Thursday the 16th.
A truly inspirational encounter on the successes, failures and life of this legendary storyteller.
The Echo of a Noise presents a collection of vignettes drawn from his early childhood and career. For a trip through Apartheid, seen through the eyes of a young South African man, Uys will have you in stitches of laughter or crying overwhelmingly. This had to be his most profound production to date.
On Friday the 17th, the Pezula Conrad hosted Moeletsi Mbeki, the author of ‘A manifesto for Social Change’.
Moeletsi Mbeki is a journalist, political analyst, author and entrepreneur. He showcases the current political stance here in South Africa and sets the stage for a new political party.
A very inspiring talk with stats that show us where we are headed as a nation and what needs to be implemented in order for us to avoid following the same course of Zimbabwe.
This year’s Knysna Literary Festival was nothing short of inspiring. So if you didn’t get the opportunity to enjoy one of the shows, you’ll definitely want to make sure you don’t miss out on next year’s amazing line-up.
