The Slow Festival Charity focus
One of the Slow Festival’s core goals is to help charities raise funds and every event at the festival has a charity focus.
The individual organisers of each event on the programme have been asked to donate a portion of their proceeds to charity, with the choice of charity being theirs to make. They will be responsible for handing the funds over.
Over and above the monies raised by event organisers, each year charities are encouraged to use the festival as a platform to raise their own funds- to take a stall or put on an event during the Slow Festival (at a special reduced charity rate). In the past Hospice, Slow Town Meals, The Living Cornerstone, NG Kerk, Sedgefield Lions and Masithandane have all run very successful stalls and thus have been able to increase the intake for their charities coffers.
Look out for the numerous ways in which you will be able to support your favourite charity at this year’s Slow Festival and let’s make sure it is the best year yet for them all!
