Local Design and Food Market enchants locals and visitors
The Local Design Market once again had locals and visitors venture out into the cold – all to experience the warm, friendly ambience, awesome entertainment and the best foodies and designers the Garden Route has on offer.
The market promotes locally produced art, clothing, fashion accessories and décor, as well as delicious freshly prepared food. The initiative was developed by a team of passionate young creative designers from Knysna and after a huge success with their launch, the team decided to make it a quarterly event in December, April, July and September.
Thursday’s market, which was held on the 7th of July, on the top floor of the Checkers parking lot was no exception. It was great to hear the sweet sounds of Wild Lettuce as he drew in the crowds with his incredible performance. There was also freshly prepared foods available with ample indoor and outdoor seating, so shoppers could tuck and enjoy a glass of wine.
The kids were kept entertained with activities, as their parents relaxed or did some specialised shopping. Even Raoul ‘The Owl’ and Butana were there to entertain the shoppers as the children chased around after them on their stilts.
If you haven’t had a chance to experience this amazing market, keep a look out for posters that are displayed in and around Knysna just before the event. This stylishly creative market is most definitely worth the visit!
