Join a fantastic group of internationally acclaimed musicians along the Garden Route as they play together for the very first time in their Soul of Eden Music tour.
Featuring Riaan Smit and ‘Stoffels’ (Crimson House), Marco Wielander (Trenton and Free Radical), Daena Weeks and Ann Jangle this event promises to rock.
Riaan Smit was born in Namibia and began his musical journey at the age of 12 playing in various bands. His first instrument was bass and later guitar, harmonica and singing became his mainstay. He formed the highly successful show band Crimson House in 2010 which has become one of South Africa’s most revered blues acts.
Later he took over the Bluestown Sessions in Cape Town which hosts artists from all over Africa and the world and is a mainstay in Cape Town’s live entertainment. Riaan has recorded & produced 4 albums to date and has featured on multiple artists songs.
His unique style of singing was inspired by the Oshivambo (Namibian Tribe) throat singing which has earned him the title of “Don of the Cape Blues Scene” and has been compared to the likes of Joe Cocker, Tom Waits and Howlin Wolf.
Riaan has performed across Europe , Holland, Germany, London and Spain, as well across his own continent of Africa.
For the first time in 2014 he will embarking on a three month tour of the United States performing in New York, L.A, Arizona and more.
Riaan is currently in the process of preparing his release of his very first solo debut and simultaneously preparing Crimson House’s 3rd album Of Madness.
Ann Jangle’s ominous style of dark folk, eclectic rock at times, gypsy infused, theatrical, soulful style of writing and performing leaves a long lasting impression. Belting her voice and personality out on stage like she was born there, this South-African born singer/ songwriter/ producer/ composer has performed her way onto a vast variety of stages and has made quite the impact on the South-African Music Scene.
Daena Weeks is a Namibian born singer-songwriter who released her debut album Sowing Seeds on April 21, 2016. Starting her musical career with her first band at the age of 15, she has played in various other bands since and now embarks on her solo journey for the past three years.
Her musical influences include Florence & The Machine, Tracy Chapman, Eddie Vedder, Leonard Cohen, Madonna, Fleetwood Mac, Sarah McLachlan and many more. Thus far Daena has toured across Africa, including The Lake of Stars Festival in Malawi, and will be performing at the Afro Arts Festival in Bergen, Norway alongside Artwell Neusu in June, after which she will be touring through other parts of Europe and India.
