Jaguar Simola Hillclimb 2015 – One for the books!
A weekend filled with ear-piercing intensity, fuel filled vibes, smoke, cheers and top notch racing was the order of the day on May 2015 in the beautiful paradise of Knysna for the The Jaguar Simola Hillclimb.
In its sixth year, running, crowds were drawn under sun blazing skies from all over to watch the chilling action of ‘supped’ up cars in all categories.
The racing took place from the bottom of Simola Hill to the top, the cars run one at a time at top speeds against the tick of a clock. With screeching gutsy cheeky pull-offs and record making times, goals were set and made.
Desmond Gutzeit or better known as ‘Dezi’ won the highly anticipated King of the Hill challenge by setting a new lap record of 40.148 seconds on his very last run in his Nissan Skyline R32 GT-R.
On the podium, Dezi said “I’m not sure if I can go any faster, but next year we’ll definitely try to break the 40 second barrier”.
An impressive second place went to Sav Gualtieri, who proved to be a favourite surprise. Taking his BMW 335i to new levels, he achieved his fastest time of 41.659 seconds.
Darron Gudmanz, son of Des, was close behind and took up third place with his best time of 41.763 seconds in his Nissan Skyline GTR.
Thrilling, exhilarating and actioned packed entertainment was pure joy to all who participated and watched.
