Noorsekloof Nature Reserve
The Noorsekloof Nature Reserve was declared a conservation reserve in 1984. It has a 3km trail running alongside a stream from which you can see near 50 species of bird and some small buck. Paradise flycatchers tend to be very tame & can offer some very enjoyable moments as they flutter around catching insects.
The exquisite reserve covers 28 hectare of land stretching from the golden beaches up the valley side through a neighbourhood area called Wavecrest. The reserve gained its name because of the abundance of Noorsboom ( trees) or giant Euphorbia Triangularus in the area.
If you are a lover of birds, watch out for the Knysna Woodpecker and the immaculate Knysna Loerie.
The vegetation in the kloof is of Valley Bushveld, the broad term given to the subtropical transitional thickets of the Eastern Cape. It’s mostly seen in the hot, dry valleys of rivers. Vegetation is usually made up of thorny, dense vegetation or succulent shrubs.
