Discover Untouched Adventures in Tsitsikamma
JUST an hour’s drive down the N2 from Jeffreys Bay, lies a treasure in South Africa’s oldest Marine Protected Area – the Tsitsi-kamma National Park with its hiking trails, picnic spots, private beach and adventure opportunities awaiting. Located inside the park, at Storms River Mouth, is another hidden gem – Untouched Adventures.
The most popular activity at Untouched Adventures is a 2 to 3 hour kayak and lilo trip up the Storms River. Guests can experience paddling up the pristine river, under the famous Storms River Suspension Bridge, into a bats cave and through narrow gorge openings.
To explore deeper into the gorge, the kayaks are left behind and everyone jumps onto their own inflatable red lilo – where they “lie-low” as they gently wade along the black water of Storms River as gorge walls tower over them.
On returning, the brave and adventurous can take the opportunity to leap off the overhanging cliff walls of the gorge into the deep pools below, or simply relax floating along enjoying the views.
Taking families with children as young as five, this trip caters for everyone seeking a unique and memorable experience in the Tsitsikamma. Trips depart hourly over summer, costing R450 per person. Bookings are essential.
Even if visitors are keen to just laze on the beach, go snorkeling, try out scuba diving or dust off their scuba licence for a scuba dive – Untouched Adventures has them covered for fun and adventure in Tsitsikamma National Park.
Enjoy the abundance of marine life in the Protected Area that is home to the colourful reefs where visitors can spot the lazy guitar fish, or follow the inquisitive Red Roman on their snorkel adventure.
Untouched Adventure’s friendly dive master can take visitors to discover the secret underwater world on an easy and relaxing dive. The shore entries are a maximum depth of 12m. Divers will see lots of colourful soft corals, sea anemones and nudibranches, as well as a variety of fish species from Red Romans to Blacktails, Stingrays and Sandsharks. And for the lucky divers, Tsitsikamma’s shy raggies.
For those who are not scuba qualified, but keen for a taste of the underwater world, Untouched Adventures offers a half-day Disco-ver Scuba course which includes one ocean dive.
