The Stanford wine route is situated along the foothills of the Kleinrivier Mountains and stretches along the inland valleys and coastline of Walker Bay. The historic town has a number of wine estates that grow with each passing year. There are a multitude of specially crafted wines on offer if you are planning on exploring and wine tasting in Stanford.
From as early as the 1800’s wine has been produced in the Stanford area. The cool air that blows from the Atlantic Ocean and over the estates ensures that wines remain cool and crisp in flavour, the Sauvignon Blanc’s of this region remain to be challenged due to these factors. Ripening of the grapes before harvest is guaranteed during our lovely, long summer days.
Many of the wineries focus on bio-diversity farming and take pride in handpicked and selected grapes, thus providing any avid wine drinker a top quality bottle of wine.
Most wine varieties are grown on the farms and include, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc, Rose, Shiraz, 
Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinotage and Pinot Noir.
