The Overberg is a beautiful place to explore and what better way to do it than to go quad biking along the many routes and trails that wind through the Hemel en Aarde Valley and over the exquisite fynbos covered mountains and hills of Hermanus, Stanford and Gansbaai.

Hermanus & Hemel en Aarde Valley
There are 3 quad bike/ATV trails to choose from and they are with Hermanus Forest Adventures.
Route 1: Mountain and Vineyard Drive
Duration: 1 Hour 30 minutes
Trail: Cruise through one of the oldest wine estates in the Hemel en Aarde Valley, Hamilton Russell Vineyards. Tackle the trail up the mountain and through the Cape Floral Kingdom. Explore the Fernkloof Nature Reserve, this ATV trail offers quad bikers unparalleled views of Walker Bay. Make sure to bring your cameras along, this quad biking route also offers you a different approach to whale watching.
Route 2: Sunset Ride
Duration: 2 Hours
Trail: The trail kicks off at one of the most renowned wine estates in South Africa and the Overberg, Hamilton Russell Vineyards. Riders will leave the tasting room behind with a bag full of hand selected wines. The route will see you wind through the vineyards and up the mountain side. Once you have reached the summit you will have an incredible view of Walker Bay, enjoy the African sunset along with delicious wines.
Route 3: Hermanus Stargazing Trip
Duration: 3 Hours
Trail: A first of its kind to the area, this trip is unique and a must try on a quiet, star filled night. Hermanus Forest Adventures hosts interactive astronomy presentations from the best place to be, that is a top a mountain, perched neatly on a quad bike. The stars will dazzle you but so will all the lights of the small towns below.
Route 1: Mosaic Private Sanctuary Fynbos Quad Biking Excursions
Duration: 1 to 3 Hours
Trail: Take an amble along the Kleinriver Lagoon and up to higher points of Mosaic Private Sanctuary’s land. Once high enough you will be met with 360 degree views of the mountains, sea and lagoon. Learn about the wildlife and about the fynbos as you drive along unspoilt terrain. Picnics can also be arranged to make the trip even more special.
Route 2: EcoQuad Nature Trails
Trail: The nature trails are offered from Sir Robert Stanford Wine Estate. The route winds along the beautiful, lush vineyards before entering a tricky section of the route to get the adrenalin pumping. The trail will see you trek up the mountain to a lookout point that will take your breath away. No experience is required and the trip can be enjoyed by all ages.
Route 1: Grootbos Biking Adventures
Duration: 2 Hours
Trail: An experienced guide will take you through, past, up and over lagoons, the coastlines, forests, mountains and valleys. You will trek up Mount Dyer and from there you will be able to see Dyer Island as well as the far reaches of Gansbaai. Guests will even have a chance to go through an area of the Platbos forest, the most southern Forest in Africa. The trail circles back to the starting line, this course is easy going and suitable for everyone, young and old!
Route 2: Quad Explore
Duration: 2 Hours
Trail: Explore the unique fynbos covered region of the Overberg as well as the vast coastline. The route takes you up Mount Dyer where you will be met with striking views of Dyer Island. There are stunnung views of the Uilkraal Valley and Franskraal as well as a short drive through the Platbos Forest.
