Horse Riding Trails In The Overberg | Southern Most Tip
There is no better way of discovering the Overberg region than by adventuring along on horse back through the many horse riding trails of Walker Bay and surrounding areas. The mountain trots and beach gallops will leave you feeling free! From your vantage point the scenery of the Cape Floral Kingdom and majesty of the Fynbos is like none other.
The southern most tip trail is on offer through the African Horse Company.
The route:
9 nights, 8 riding days.
You will have a chance to troll through lush fynbos landscapes and along undisturbed areas of the Cape. Riders will be able to explore the dune areas of the Cape Agulhas region and even get a chance to spot whales and other marine life such as dolphins and an array of birds.
Day 1 – 4 hours – Farm 215 till Bodhi Khaya
Day 2 – 5 hours – Bodhi Khaya till Klein Paradjis
Day 3 – 5 hours – Klein Paradjis till Ratel River in the Cape Agulhas National Park
Day 4 – 5 hours – Ratel River till Renosterkop in the Cape Agulhas National Park
Day 5 – 6 hours – Renosterkop past the southern most tip of Africa
Day 6 – 4 hours – Renosterkop till Rietfontein
Day 7 – 4 hours – Rietfontein till Waterford in the Cape Aghulhas National Park
Day 8 – 4 hours – Waterford till Farm 215.
Notes:
- Riders are to be fit, healthy and comfortable with a trot and canter.
- Riders must be prepared to spend long hours in the saddle.
- Hard hats are supplied as well as chaps, however bring your own if you have.
