There is an island a few km’s away from Gansbaai called Dyer Island. This island plays host to over 50 000 cape fur seals, penguins, and plenty more sea birds. Do we hear the dinner bell ringing!?

Hundred of sharks are calling this place home, there won’t be a day where no great white sharks are spotted. Great white shark cage diving tours leave from Kleinbaai harbour on the Dangerpoint Peninsula like clockwork, morning till evening offering guests an experience of a lifetime.

An excursion will take between 3 to 5 hours, depending on factors such as the sea conditions, weather and the behaviour of the sharks. The resting sight will be determined by the same mentioned factors. Guests have the option of surface viewing but are encouraged to take the plunge and view these magnificent beasts from the secure cage. Visitors do not have to be scuba qualified to partake in the shark cage diving.

Fear, not the cage is 100 percent secure and floats in the water with a 1 meter section above the water’s surface. No bulky equipment will hamper your viewing as air is supplied from an onboard air tank, wetsuits and all necessary diving equipment is also provided. The tour boat operators are all qualified and have to abide by strict safety regulations as stipulated by the South African Government.

The best time to hop on board the great white shark cage charters and test your limits is from June till September. While aboard you can witness up to more than 5 great whites circling, more have been recorded. Remember to schedule a few days extra as viewing is at it’s best during the South African winter time and weather conditions can stop boats from heading out.
