The Great Outdoors – Covering All The Markets In Hermanus
There is nothing better than to bundle your kids, dogs and yourself into the car early on a Saturday morning and head to any one of the intriguing markets in Hermanus.
There are many to choose from, some small and some large, some in the morning and some in the evening, whatever your choice of market is you won’t be disappointed as each one has something truly remarkable and unique.
As part of the great outdoors month we bring to you the local craft markets in Hermanus that you should go and explore.
Hermanuspietersfontein Kos & Wynmark
Venue: Hermanuspietersfontein Winery
Date: Every Saturday
Time: 09:00 till 13:00
Come enjoy breakfast or lunch, coffee or wine, cakes and bakes or cheese boards! The market space has ample seating, umbrellas for those hot summer days and market stalls that neatly wrap around the winery’s courtyard. There is a lovely jungle gym and sand pit for the kiddies to enjoy and enough wine for the adults to savour.
Our big love: Only at the Kos & Wynmark can you buy a bottle of their wonderful and very lively MCC.
Hermanus Country Market
Date: Every Saturday
Time: 09:00 till 13:00
Remember to bring your basket or shopper along because this is the number one place to shop for fresh, organic produce from nearby farms. Come early to find a spot to sit and to be the first in line at the coffee or breakfast bar. Piano Ben sings smooth blues and feel good tunes, and there is a great jungle gym and sand pit for your little ones. This is on of the most bustling little markets in town and a favourite hang out spot for the locals.
Our big love: You can bring your pooch, as long as he is well behaved and on a lead. (Photo by: Hermanus.co.za)
The Onrus Craft Market
Venue: De Wet Hall, Roos Street, Onrus
Date: The first Saturday of every month
Time: 09:00 till 13:00
A smaller market than the others in town but not one to miss. As it is only held once a month people already place their orders for sweet treats the month prior, that’s just how popular it is. If you are looking for a nibble and a good quality piece of cake this is the place to be!
Our big love: It is one of the best places in town to buy milk tarts, brownies, muffins and old loved classics like rusks and koeksisters.
Hemel en Aarde Garden Market
Venue: Hemel en Aarde Wine Village
Date: Every Saturday
Time: 09:00 till 14:00
This little market is held every Saturday in the courtyard of the Wine Village. Neighbouring stores like Eat, Wine Village, At The Village Farm Stall and more make it an even bigger treat. Wander through the stalls, watch your children bound up and down on the jumping castle and sit back and relax. This market is all about kicking back and enjoying the quiet country life.
Our big love: Quiet, cosy and you can even pop into the Whalehaven Winery or the other shops around the Hemel en Aarde Village.
Stanford Sunset Market
Date: Every last Friday of the month
Time: 18:00 till 20:00
A true taste of village life. Beat the weekend crowds and take a short drive through to Stanford for this evening market. Local and lekker, in true farmers market fashion all the products are locally made and produced. Shop for the freshest veggies, fruits and bakes with live music wafting in the background.
Our big love: As local as you can get and fantastic on those lazy summer evenings. If you are looking for something a tad different then venture a little further outside of Hermanus.
