Interior Design Trends 2015
Sarah Donnelly from Overberg Interiors shares the top interior design trends of 2015 with us, take a look!
As we rapidly approach the end of 2014 and many of us are decorating our homes for the upcoming holidays, it is worth bearing in mind the trends in interior design for the year ahead.
Here Is What Some Of 2015 Has In Store On The Design Front…
Creative Recycling – Think using reclaimed doors as headboards with a modern bed; turning recycled pallets into bed bases or putting them on castor wheels to make a coffee table; re-purposing old tin funnels or sinks turned into industrial light fixtures.
Mixing Old & New – Don’t be afraid to mix retro furniture with new modern shapes; industrial lighting in a contemporary high gloss kitchen or painting a traditional picture frame or table in fresh trendy colours.
Merging Materials – Merging different natural materials such as exposed brick, stone, wood and cement finishes and repeating those in different ways throughout a space is a design trend that is not going away.
Warm Metallics – The trend of mixing metals stays in, and yes, brass is still back. 2015 will see the introduction of burnished golds and bronzes into that mix to heat things up even further.
Mediterranean Blues – Think watery patterns, a turquoise sofa, mixing of blue tones as accents throughout your home, especially great for beach house styles.
2015 Colour Chart – Blues & Teal; mixed pastel shades; olive greens; punches of colour like grape &aubergine; neutral tones – with grey staying very much on trend!
Don’t think of what it was meant to be. Think of what it can be!
