Pure South | Liz Coates
Liz Coates From Pure South
Liz Coates is a well known Hermanus local, she spends a great deal of time and effort on the FynArts Festival and own’s a unique, refreshing lifestyle, décor, arts, ceramics and crafts store called Pure South.
Born in Glasgow, Liz settled upon Hermanus for its natural beauty, which is why many people move here and that living in a small town has lots of advantages.
See what this local lady had to say to us…
Describe yourself in 3 words…
Pragmatic, team player and effective.
My 3 favourite things in the world are…
My two daughters and my grandson.
What made you decide to open Pure South in Hermanus?
It was at the time of moving to Hermanus, exporting South African ceramic art to the U.K, arriving in Hermanus and walking around I decided that there was a space for me to open a shop as well, the name Pure South came naturally as that is what I sell, Pure South African arts and crafts.
If you are not in your store what are you doing?
Hiking, walking and swimming in the Marine Pool with good friends.
The best part of owning Pure South is?
The people you meet, the friends you make, from customers to artists, every day is different and of course running and owning my own small business.
Always keep your glass half full – Liz Coates
Hermanus is…
Everything in a nutshell, the sea, the beautiful beaches, the mountains, the people. You travel down the Main Road from the beach through the town to the splendour of the valley and try and soak it all in, and know you are blessed to live here!
I love Hermanus in the…
Summer; eating outside, walking on the beach, swimming in the Marine Pool and wearing sandals.
My favourite place in Hermanus is…
The cliff path and Fernkloof Nature Reserve, walking with so much beauty around, look right, then left and you will see something different every time.
I wish I knew then what I do now about…
Everything in life…
My best memories are…
Made every day!
