Hermanus Fire
Hermanus Fire
Last week saw the devastating fire engulf parts of Hermanus, needing for some residents to evacuate their homes in the middle of the night!
Thank you to social media groups, local organisations and the charitable spirit of the community those in need including the elderly residents of Onrus Manor were assisted in evacuating the immediate area. People offered up their houses, Churches offered up their halls, veterinary clinics assisted with housing peoples beloved pets and volunteers began furtively making tea, coffee and sandwiches for residents and the firefighters.
The support of the residents of Hermanus was overwhelming, early the next morning the rain that was forecast arrived, putting out the blaze.
Residents were able to return to their homes that morning. Thanks to the fire department no houses were damaged in the blaze.
