Gordon’s Bay celebrates with “Winter Wonderland” 2015
Gordon’s Bay’s “Winter Wonderland Festival of Lights” (19 June -19 July) as well as the highlights – the Carnival Weekends (26–28 June and 3-5 July) – are now a major attraction in the Cape winter calendar.
Although only 50 minutes from Cape Town, being north-facing over False Bay and protected from the cold winter wind, Gordon’s Bay is some 2 degrees warmer. To celebrate this ‘secret season’ the seaside village will be alive with sparkling lights, music, feasts, fairs, pavement parties and festivities, so don your ‘woolies’, fantasy costumes and twinkling lights, bring family and friends and join the fun.
Last year some 25,000 people were attracted to this event and this year will be even more spectacular with snowflakes and energy-saving light displays. The enchanting ‘Fairy Forest and Fairy Market’ along the beachfront is one of the most delightful highlights, while the Arts, Crafts and warming Food Fares, Live Music performances, Beer and Wine tastings, the Ghost House and a Carnival Opening Parade will delight young and old.
The Festival kicks off with the glamorous red-carpet Winter Wonderland Ball at the Lord Charles Hotel on 13 June. Tickets @ R475 pp are obtainable through Margot 0824673060 or BP Gordon’s Bay
Being central in the Western Cape, nestled against the Hottentots Holland Mountains on the Whale Route a few minutes from the Winelands, Gordon’s Bay is your ideal holiday breakaway, so with guest houses offering specials rates this is an ideal opportunity for visitors to stay overnight to enjoy all the Carnival attractions. Remember your camera!
“Platform for ALL for prosperity for ALL” This platform for ALL local entrepreneurs and charities is an opportunity to attract tourists and media exposure, thereby bringing prosperity to ALL in Gordon’s Bay. Created by a volunteer committee, part of the Gordon’s Bay Business Forum (NPO 103-838), this community event is in support of Gordon’s Bay Rotary’s ‘Yellow Door’ upliftment project.
