George intruder arrested
A suspect is in police custody after he allegedly trespassed on a property in Blanco earlier this month.
He was arrested after the home owner spotted him, and alerted a local private security company.
“Our monitoring centre received a call from a client in Napier Street (on Saturday 1 April) who reported that someone had jumped over the palisade fence. We deployed armed response officer Adriaan Janse van Rensburg to investigate,” says Steven Green, Garden Route Branch Manager for Fidelity ADT.
When the officer arrived at the property, he found a suspect hiding in the garden and immediately apprehended him. The SAPS arrived on the scene a short while later and took the suspect into custody.
“My advice to residents is to make sure they have a perimeter wall or fencing that acts as a proper deterrent to any would-be criminals which keeps them out. If any suspicious activity is noticed, the best thing is to immediately call your security company, the neighbourhood watch or the police, so that trained professionals can come to your aid immediately,” says Green.
He also had praise for the officer who assisted in the successful apprehension of the suspects.
