Anuschka double world champion
Anuschka: student at Wessel’s Martial Arts Academy
GEORGE NEWS – Protea martial arts team member, Anuschka Zaayman recently became a double world champion when she won gold in both ISKA Ladies Class A Black Belt Clash Sparring and NAGA No-Gi Sport Grappling at the 40th annual US Open World Martial Arts Championships in Orlando, Florida.
Zaayman, a student at Wessel’s Martial Arts Academy, also won silver in both NAGA Sport Gi-Grappling and ISKA Ladies Class A Black Belt Points fighting. The championships was attended by 65 countries with over 5 000 participants that included 1 200 sport grapplers. She has proved herself as one of this area’s top competitive martial artists and has served as an inspiration to all the up-and-coming stars who train with sensei Wessel and sensei Elrié.
Due to her world-class performance, she has become sought after by other karate schools in the area, but it is with pride that both sensei Wessel and sensei Elrié can call her a member of their Martial Arts Academy. It resonates under the South Africa Goju Ryu Karate-do, led by chief national instructor Shihan André van Vuuren, and Karate-do International under Kancho Rony Kluger.
This academy is also proudly associated with Shihan Phil Anderson and his amazing team at Anderson’s Martial Arts Academy/NMA-ISKA.
Zaayman will now be gearing up for her next world championship in September where she will once again represent her country at the World Goju Karate Federation Championships.
