“Madibaz Diamonds” benefit from NMMU George Bursary Fund
First “Madibaz Diamonds” benefit from NMMU George Campus Bursary Fund
Following the establishment of the much-anticipated “Madibaz Diamonds” Bursary Fund for the NMMU George Campus, the Campus’ Bursary Committee led by the Campus Principal, Prof Quinton Johnson, had the privilege of also initiating the administrative machinery to ensure that the ten most deserving applicants were each granted a bursary of R10 000 for the 2015 Academic Year. Although it had been the intention to award ten bursaries in recognising NMMU’s tenth anniversary, the academically and financially deserving candidates made such compelling arguments to support their applications that it was eventually decided to award the bursary to eleven students, while still retaining some seed funding to activate fundraising drives for the following year.
“We have noted with pride that you have managed to maintain a good academic standard and are confident that you will continue to build on this competitive advantage by pursuing academic excellence. We trust that the awarding of the NMMU George Campus Bursary will further inspire you to realise your dreams”, said a proud Prof Johnson in communicating the good news to the students.
The NMMU Chancellor’s Golf Day in George and other income-generating initiatives such as the Campus Principal’s Grand Ball, are the main sources of income for the Bursary Fund.
The Chancellor’s 2015 Golf Day in George has been scheduled for 8 October at the Kingswood Golf Club. It will again take the format of a Betterball Stableford and all proceeds will go towards the development fund for deserving “Madibaz Diamonds” at NMMU George.
