The East London Aquarium

The East London Aquarium is South Africa’s oldest aquarium, established in 1931. Animals that can be seen at the aquarium include Seals, Penguins, Turtles and a variety of marine fish.

For the Whale lovers, there is the Whale Walk which is free of charge and open during aquarium hours. The best time of year for Whale viewing is between August and November.

The Aquarium is open daily from 09:00 to 17:00. The Seals show and Penguin feeding run daily at 11:30 and 15:30.

Getting there: The Aquarium is situated on the Esplanade on the East London seaboard, east of the Buffalo River mouth and harbour.
