East London artists going for gold at SA Indies Music Week
Following on from nationwide auditions held by IMEXSA (Independent Music Exporters South Africa), the SA Indies Music Week at Gold Reef City in Johannesburg is now in full swing!
Representing East London, we have Can of Worms and Vuyolwethu, and we have been following their adventures so far on social media news feeds… and let me tell you, a balanced combination of hard work and fun is being had by all!
Artists from all over the country have been mingling and networking and showing support for one another in Johannesburg and our East London guys have been attending workshops, networking sessions and showcases put on by other artists each evening. Tomorrow evening, Friday 18th December, sees our local musos representing East London with their very own performances at a venue second to none, The Lyric Theatre! They are going to be performing live in front of a panel of judges who will then decide if they are to be selected to travel and take their music overseas! Exciting times!!
The SA Indies Music Week runs until Sunday, 20th December and this will also be the day when the judges make their final decision. Online public voting is open until Saturday, 19th December and, as stated in previous news, although the judges will have the final say, public votes count for a lot and the artist with the most online votes get to perform a second time at a special Grand Finale Showcase on Sunday! To vote for your favourite artist, please follow this link. We won’t tell anybody if you don’t, but it seems you are able to vote multiple times per day too 😉
All of the showcases that form part of the SA Indies Music Week are also open to the public. If you would like to attend the showcase put on by our local guys, you can purchase tickets via Computicket at R50 per person. Not only will you be witnessing some serious talent up on that stage but you will also be showing huge support for our East London artists!
We are so excited for everybody, this is such an amazing experience for them that could lead to incredible opportunities overseas.
So, East London, let’s hear it for our local guys, Can of Worms and Vuyolwethu! And don’t forget to cast your votes every day for the next couple of days!
