Assagay, in the 19th century part of the difficult route between Durban and Pietermaritzburg, still has evidence of its history. Parts of the old wagon track are still visible today.  In 1879 the station was built. Today, you still feel somewhat removed from city life and there continues to be smallholdings in the area.

Even though there are no schools in Assagay, the well known Kearsney College, a private boys school, is nearby in Botha’s Hill.  Hillcrest with its shopping centres and schools is not too far away either.

The 1000 Hills Tourism Routes meander in and around Assagay, with a good selection of B&Bs in the area to choose from.

Property prices range from R5.5m for a smallholding and you should be able to find an apartment for sale in Assagay for R770,000.
