Load Shedding Expected Tonight: 18h00 to 22h00
EThekwini Electricity has just been notified by Eskom that the supply capacity has been severely constrained since yesterday, 28/10/14, and it is expected that the demand will outstrip the national capacity to supply during this evening’s peak period between 18:00 and 22:30.
EThekwini customers can expect Stage 1 of the Load-shedding schedule to be enacted this evening.
The Load-shedding Schedule and the affected areas can be found on the following link:-
Block F is expected to be off between 18:00 and 20:30 whilst Block G will be switched off between 20:00 and 22:30. Customers are cautioned to switch off all appliances during the outage and only restore as needed when power does return. This will assist us by preventing nuisance tripping and extended outages.
Summer is the maintenance season for the power plants and as these are taken off for maintenance, electricity users become susceptible to load-shedding. Eskom has experienced technical problems at some of their generation units and this has necessitated the emergency.
We urge all customers to be patient and reduce all non-essential loads to assist us in stabilising the electricity supply grid.
