PROTECT YOUR ELECTRONIC DEVICES FROM POWER SURGES AND INDIRECT LIGHTNING STRIKES – It’s a good idea to make sure that all your expensive electronic equipment is protected with a surge protector system in this stormy weather – and with all the power cuts at this time of year. The main function of a surge plug is to protect electronic devices from surges. If the surge in the electricity is high enough, it can inflict some heavy damage on a machine – whether it be a computer, television, fridge or anything that has a PC board. Even if increased voltage doesn’t immediately break your machine, it may put extra strain on the components, wearing them down over time. Spending a small amount on a surge plug will save you the huge cost of either replacing the PC board – or the whole unit. Hirsch’s sell Ellies surge plugs- stock code 32146.
MAKE SURE YOUR APPLIANCES ARE IN GOOD WORKING ORDER – Suppliers close over the holiday period, so if you are even vaguely worried about one of your appliances not being 100% you need to get the problem sorted out now. According to the Hirsch Service department, it’s ovens that come in for the most “flak” at this time of year. “Many people only make use of their ovens over the festive season and find out at the last minute that they are not heating up as they should be. It’s a good idea to buy a temperature gauge to test the temperature well in advance of popping that massive turkey in the oven” Hirsch Service’s Lallie Maharaj told us. Also fridges tend to have their own version of the wobblies over this period with their constance use. Make sure the doors are kept closed when not in use. A spare is always a good “piece of mind” purchase at this time of year.
