Cllr Fawzia Peer – eThekwini EXCO Member
EXCO member and Chairperson of the Finance and Procurement Committee, Cllr Fawzia Peer, said that sustainability would be one of her priorities, as everything the Municipality built today needed to survive for longer for people to reap their full benefits. “We will do this in a caring way which ensures that we become a truly equal, democratic and financially successful city.”
“Citizens are invited on board as stakeholders to share control of development initiatives and participate in the implementation, to broaden ownership,” said Peer. She said engaging with citizens helped the Municipality increase efficiency, making programmes more cost effective and sustainable. Peer described the Finance and Procurement Team as the heart of the Municipality.
“Good financial management with adequate controls on overexpenditure is crucial for the promotion of good governance,” Peer said.
