See what ShowMe™
can do for your business!
Towards the end of this year Mitsubishi Motors SA, in conjunction with Leisure Wheels magazine, will take two lucky couples to Mozambique for an unforgettable holiday. All you have to do to stand a chance of winning this prize is to give us your opinion. That’s right just tell us what accessories you would fit to a Mitsubishi Pajero 3.2Di-D GLX to make it an even better overland machine without breaking the proverbial bank.
Picture the scene.
You are edging the Mitsubishi Pajero’s nose forward, one millimetre at a time. A man is giving you directions, standing in front of the vehicle.
“Come! Cooooooome!” he says, keeping a close eye on the front wheels. You are boarding a ferry that is about to cross the imposing Nkomati River, between Mozambique’s mainland and Macaneta Island.
Finally, you make it, and surrounded by pedestrians who are catching a lift with the ferry, you head over the river in surprisingly speedy fashion. On the other bank the offloading process is easier. Soon you are on your way. After a few clicks you arrive at a colourful, shack-like building. A Rastafarian character is standing in front of it, guitar in hand. But instead of belting out some Bob Marley hit, the Rastafarian dude lets rip with Afrikaans singer Bok van Blerk’s erstwhile hit, Delarey.
A few minutes later you arrive at a seaside resort, overlooking pristine beaches and the Indian Ocean. That night you enjoy a Mozambique specialty – prawns. Amazing, beautiful and delicious prawns. Lots of them, too! And here is the good news. This can be your scene!
Mitsubishi Motors SA and Leisure Wheels magazine will send two couples, each in their own Mitsubishi Pajero 3.2Di-D, on a four-day adventure to Mozambique! All your expenses will be paid for, and between the crews from Mitsubishi Motors and Leisure Wheels (who will drive their own Mitsubishis) we will make sure you have an amazing adventure.
The programme looks like this
We leave Gauteng early on a Thursday morning, cross the border at Komatipoort and use remote back roads to get to that ferry, which is situated north of Maputo. We cross the Nkomati River on the ferry, and head past the Delarey man to Lugar do Mar – a most magnificent setting, a rock’s throw from the beach.
That night you will be treated to prawn heaven – but if your body has some problem with shellfish, a variety of meats and other dishes will be available.
Next morning we head north up the coast, at leisure. There will be plenty of time to stop and smell the proverbial roses on the way to Praia do Bilene – an increasingly popular tourist town on the banks of the Uembje Lagoon. We will stay over at the Praia do Sol Bilene Lodge, and explore this tourist-oriented region.
Next day we head south again, very much at leisure, on less travelled tracks. We finally end up at the beautiful Southern Sun Hotel in the capital city of Maputo. This hotel is situated on the beach. It’s modern and new, in a thriving part of Maputo. It’s where the action is, with many restaurants and a vibrant night life. On the Sunday we head back home, via Komatipoort.
So it’s from a Thursday to a Sunday, and it will happen towards the end of the year. The prize is aimed at couples, but if you want to take your buddy along, remember that the lodges may lavishly decorate your room with rose petals, expecting a couple with romance in mind! You obviously need a valid passport (a visa is not required) and a driving licence.
Next Month
We will reveal some details about Project Pajero – our super-duper new project vehicle. We will also feature comments from readers on the accessories they would fit to a standard Pajero. And there will be more details on this competition.
