On Sunday 29th July, The Extreme makeover at Leliebloem child & youth care centre ended with the excited children arrived back at their home in intense anticipation as to how their new bedrooms, play rooms, gardens and living areas would now look.
The youngest child age 4, was allowed to cut the ribbon and go to see his house first.
The joy of seeing the children screaming with excitement as they ran into all the rooms laughing and shouting for joy brought tears to many of the onlookers, sponsorers and volunteers eyes.
The “house mothers” too felt extreme emotion and tears of joy.
The work that had to take place over the three days was immense and included extensive painting, wall murals of hope, replacing of cupboards, sanding of floors, electrics, plumbing, fun and bright new bedding, curtains and blinds, woodwork & cornices, gardening, repairing tarmac, roofing and guttering.
A huge thank you to Heart FM for streaming live from the event and thank you to all from New Kidz on the Block and Leliebloem itself for making us all so welcome.
Most of all thank you to those shiny happy people that made up a never tiring team of volunteers to make a home out of a house for our future generations. You deserve a medal.
