How coffee is improving Cape Town property prices
Cape Town’s handle on the independent speciality coffee roaster market means that the city is now widely recognized as the coffee capital of Africa.
The combination of a booming Cape Town coffee market and the flexi-worker trend that is on the rise, means that coffee shops are quickly becoming accepted as work spaces and offices.
No longer the tea-house capital, Cape Town’s coffee shops are world class; on a par with other coffee capitals like Melbourne and Vancouver.
High-end roasteries have popped up all over Cape Town in the last ten years, 250 of which are independent. Statistics South Africa has also recorded steady growth in the restaurant and coffee shop sector with year-on-year revenue growth at 4.5%.
Media and social media have played a critical role in the exposure of the Mother City’s coffee houses, with places like Truth Coffee making it to number 1 on the British Telegraph’s list of the best coffee shops in the world.
