Rondebosch ‘chairperson’ arrested
A suspect is in police custody after he allegedly stole four chairs from a property in Rondebosch this week. His getaway was thwarted by an observant local resident who raised the alarm.
ADT Security received a call from one of its clients at the weekend (Sunday 28 August 2016 at around 1pm) about a suspicious person that was noticed in a canal behind her property along Lavenham Road. Two ADT patrol vehicles were dispatched to investigate.
“When our officers arrived, they found a man carrying four plastic chairs. He was unable to explain how he came to have the chairs in his possession. We suspect that the chairs had been stolen earlier that day,” says ADT Security’s District Manager (Cape Town South) Mr Jade Hanning.
The suspect was handed over into the custody of Rondebosch SAPS.
“We thank the resident for raising the alarm when she noticed something that looked out of place. I urge all residents of the southern suburbs to be constantly aware of what is happening around them and never to think twice about calling for help if something appears to be amiss,” says Hanning.
