Obs catering company saved from fire
The owner of a catering company in Observatory has thanked a local security company for their quick response which saved his business from going up in flames.
An armed response officer from Fidelity ADT was dispatched to an alarm activation in Tramber Place. When he arrived at the premises, he saw smoke billowing from behind the building and immediately inspected to see if he could locate the source of the smoke.
“Our officer inspected the property and found that a refuse bin behind the building was on fire, and that this had already caused some damage to the building. He immediately called for backup from the City of Cape Town’s Fire Department,” says Mr Jade Hanning, district manager (Cape Town South) for Fidelity ADT.
The fire department arrived soon afterwards and managed to extinguish the flames. The owner of the business sent an email to the company in which he expressed his gratitude to the quick thinking action from the armed response officer. “I can tell you now that you guys saved my entire business,” wrote Miles Brocklehurst, owner of Top Table Catering Equipment Hiring.
“Security systems at business premises don’t only raise the alarm if someone tries to break in. They can also serve as early warning systems for fires, which is another reason why business owners should always make sure their security systems are regularly tested and properly maintained,” says Hanning.
