Mowbray suspect arrested
A suspect is in police custody after allegedly trying to break in to a home in Mowbray earlier this week.
Fidelity ADT received an alarm activation at around 01h23 on Wednesday 21 June 2017, and dispatched armed response officer Thandile Moyeni to respond.
“On arriving at the client’s address, he noticed that the garage door was standing slightly open. When he approached and opened the door, he found a suspect hiding inside the garage,” says Fidelity ADT’s district manager (Cape Town South), Mr Jade Hanning.
Officer Moyeni apprehended the suspect and requested that the SAPS be called to the scene, to arrest the suspect. “Our client came outside to investigate and together with our armed response officer determined that the garage door was forced open, but nothing was stolen,” says Hanning.
“I urge residents to always make sure their alarm systems are armed, even if they are at home. It is also important to always test the alarm system to make sure it is still working properly, especially if your home might have suffered some damage during the recent heavy rains.”
Hanning also thanked officer Moyeni for his quick response which helped in the apprehension of the suspect.
