Fines issued at Claremont roadblock
Claremont SAPS joined forces with the HarLyn Neighbourhood Watch and ADT Security for a community law enforcement event this past week. Two roadblocks were set up on Friday 3 June 2016, at which vehicles were stopped and searched.
“Visible enforcement operations such as this show the strength and effectiveness of partnerships when it comes to law enforcement. It also sends the message to criminals that there is a network of law enforcement, community watches and security companies that will do everything needed to place them behind bars,” said ADT Security’s District Manager (Cape Town South) Jade Hanning.
A total of seventy-one cars were stopped at the two roadblocks and 20 fines issued totalling R10 000, for offences such as driving without a drivers’ license or having an expired registration disk.
The HarLyn Neighbourhood Watch is a partnership between the police, the Community Policing Forum, Residents’ Associations, and ADT Security. It covers an area that covers Harfield Village, Lynfrae, Claremont Village and BECA (Belvedere East Civic Association).
