Chicken thief arrested
A suspect was arrested on a poultry farm outside Paarl on the weekend, with several trays of allegedly stolen eggs as well as chickens in his possession.
An armed response officer from Stellenbosch Watch noticed a suspicious vehicle early on Sunday morning (around 3am, 11 June 2017) and later saw the same vehicle again when he visited Eikenhof Poultry as part of his patrols. Stellenbosch Watch is supported by Fidelity ADT.
“The officer stopped the vehicle and searched it. He found several trays of eggs as well as 104 chickens in the car; the driver could not explain what he was doing on the poultry farm at that time of the morning,” says Antoon van Zyl, CEO of Stellenbosch Watch.
SAPS were called to the scene, and the suspect was taken into custody.
