SA youth urged to be proactive in job creation
The Nelson Mandela Foundation CEO, Sello Hatang, says the mindset of young people needs to change for the country to tackle youth unemployment.
He was speaking at the launch of a series of youth unemployment reports in Johannesburg on Wednesday.
Hatang says young people should participate in job creation initiatives instead of waiting for government or businesses to provide jobs.
Hope is not enough action is required for us to get somewhere
He says, “We treat young people as recipients of leadership instead of them being active participants in process, because until such time we change the narrative, that they become the centre of attention for this things we won’t change anything.”
