What to expect: Contemporary Photography and Contemporary Comic Art
Contemporary Art can be described as art that is produced in that specific time period, and with hundreds of artists in Cape Town, one can only expect the best work to reach the top and become displayed and exhibited in the various art galleries in Cape Town today.
Erdmann Contemporary was established in 1999 by Heidi Erdmann in Cape Town and the gallery’s main mission was to promote Contemporary Comic Art….
Two years later, they launched The Photographer’s Gallery ZA in an attempt to create a platform for new innovations in Contemporary South African Photography. Since then, this owner-run gallery has made name on a local and international level with extraordinary exhibitions that include installation artists, painters, sculptors, print-makers and talented photographers. Heidi Erdmann has build a reputation as a committed art dealer who works hard at developing successful and sustainable careers for the artists that make it into The Photographer’s Gallery ZA and Erdmann Contemporary.
The Photographer’s Gallery ZA and Erdmann Contemporary deals mostly with South African photographic work but often exhibits selected international artists. They have also now opened a branch in Aarau, Switzerland, furthering its influence and extending its clientele.
