Cape Quarter Village Market under the cover with Ed Beukes
With a city that is famous for her open air markets all around town, there is no excuse to sit at home over a weekend wondering what to do. It was a Sunday morning when I felt the urge to get out and discover a new market and found myself ending up at the stylish Cape Quarter Village Market…
Cape Quarter Village Market was launched in November 2011 and due to its popularity, decided to run a mid-week market on Wednesdays as well…
The Market runs from 10:00 to 15:00 and most of the venders are actually located under roof- which is perfect for Cape Town’s habit of irregular and unpredictable weather. When I arrived with my fiancé just a couple of minutes past 10, the white and lime green tables outside Voila were already filled with friends and families enjoying breakfast in the courtyard.
Yet the garlic butter smell of fresh seafood being prepared drew us closer to the stands and the market holders at the Cape Quarter Village Market…
After smelling some flowers, tasting some olives and paging through a couple of 2nd hand books, Chris got stuck at the clothing section and as many women do, left with a bargain and a beautiful unique-looking garment for herself.
The Market itself is very small but cosy, so what makes up for the size of the market are all the quaint and lovely boutiques and shops surrounding the market place.
For a quick affordable bite, a delicious cappucino in the sun, some beer tasting or a peek at some unique fashion (without being trampled by crowds) – drive out to Greenpoint and enjoy the Cape Quarter Village Market.
