Mother’s Day adventure ideas
Celebrating the most significant woman in your life on Mother’s Day is a must. A gift or gesture to symbolise just how special your wife, mother, sister or girlfriend is, is needed. Finding the right gift though can be difficult and sometimes an experience or outing is more on point than a “Best Mom in the World” mug.
And, don’t listen to them if they tell you not to worry about celebrating this special day. Your effort will be appreciated. Most importantly, make sure that whatever you decide to do you do it together.
Here are two swanky and unconventional ideas for treating the lady in your life on Mother’s Day this year.
A 24 hour trip around the city
Treat the special woman in your life to a day filled with tourist-type activities in the city. You might start out with a champagne breakfast at a gorgeous hotel such as the Radisson Blu and then make your way down to the V&A Waterfront and hop on one of the City Sightseeing buses for a rooftop tour.
Book a suite for the night in a boutique hotel and spa and spend the rest of the afternoon being pampered. The evening could include dinner and a show at the Cape Town Comedy Club or a Kurdish feast and belly dancing extravaganza at Mesopotamia Restaurant. By staying the night in town you can both enjoy some celebratory bubbles and a quick taxi ride home to your plush accommodation for the evening. End off the 24 hours with another gourmet breakfast the following morning and you would’ve enjoyed ample quality time making your special lady feel spoilt and loved.
Embark on an alternative shopping spree with some market madness
Cape Town has a plethora of different markets all over the show – there are morning markets, all day markets, night markets, farm markets, vintage markets and the list continues. Heading off to explore these can be a ton of fun and certainly a decadent affair with all the artisan delicacies that you’ll find and inevitably sample.
If you feel up to engaging in a fun but different type of activity you could head over to the Old Biscuit Mill and sign up together with your special lady for the HintHunt Escape Game. You’ll be thrown together with team members into a small room where you have to solve puzzles and riddles in order to escape. This is a bundle of fun and because you’re in one of the most interesting areas of Cape Town you might head off to enjoy some craft beer at one of the near, hipster hot spots to end of your day.
