Men’s fashion trends for 2017
As the years go on it seems like trends in menswear get more and more adventurous. The only way to truly stay ahead with trends is to predict them. Fashion is perceived as a way of identifying oneself. You’re allowed to express yourself through the clothes you wear. Many people don’t understand the purpose of following trends. Just like some people follow a certain sport match by match, others follow fashion trends.
While there was a strong representation of black, white, navy and dark greens in 2016, olive green was the big highlight of the year and will be carried over to 2017. Get yourself ready for some things from the seventies and eighties. And don’t forget about polka dots, checks and stripes.
The way you mix and match your clothes indicates the kind of person you are on a daily basis. Following trends will also show people you’re an up-to-date person. Fashion doesn’t mean you have to wear the same outfits worn by models. Combine your clothes according to your own unique style. Have confidence when wearing your clothes. Don’t follow trends if you know you’ll feel ridiculous in styles created by someone else.
Here are a few fashion trends you can expect in 2017.
Bandanas
When it comes to wearing your bandana, seasons don’t matter. You can rock it throughout the year and with any outfit. This is perhaps the easiest street style to pull off. You can wear it around your neck, head, arm and even leg. You can use it as an accessory to add colour to a dull outfit. The trick to wearing a bandana is to not let the bandana wear you. It needs to look like an extension of your style and not as a thing you use to cover something up. Perhaps wearing a white or plain shirt and throwing a bandana around your neck can take you from plain to bold.
White on white
When it comes to style, sometimes less and plain is more. The popularity of white on white comes from its clean and fresh feel. However, you don’t want to wear everything white. Why not break the colour with a navy or black cap? Or even a different colour pair of shoes. Team white jeans or chino’s with a white t-shirt. Roll up your pants to give the style a bit more oomph. You’ll look plain but up-to-date. People will immediately see you’re following trends. This will be one of 2017’s biggest trends.
Ripped jeans
They were popular in the late 1980’s and made their comeback last year. This trend is still going strong in 2017. The style and fabric might slightly change but you can basically rock ripped jeans with anything. Whether it’s a t-shirt, formal shirt or bomber jacket with sneakers or boots, they’re easy to wear. Distressed denim won’t go out of style soon and ripped jeans are the easiest way to achieve the look. These jeans are versatile, easy to wear and add a bit of individuality to your look. It also gives you a street style kind of look. Ripped jeans are the perfect way to rock casual wear but you can also go with them for a more formal look.
White sneakers
This is basically a must have men’s shoe. White sneakers are like jeans, everyone has them but not everyone has the right pair or knows what to do with them. These came out last year and will be carried over to this year. We’re in 2017, how can you not own a pair? Well, it’ll only happen if you don’t follow trends. They look smart and go with any outfit, even suits. It doesn’t matter what the colour of your outfit is, white sneakers will go with it. Wear ripped jeans or chinos and roll the cuff with a white t-shirt and long sleeve shirt with white sneakers.
Baseball caps
Surprisingly this was one of the top trends in 2016 and will definitely continue this year. Having a bad hair day? Want to add a more masculine touch to your outfit? If you want to look stylish but still want to go for a street style, then rocking a baseball cap is the way to go. Opt for a plain colour and wear it with anything. It usually goes well with a casual outfit. For instance, wear jeans or chinos with a t-shirt, sports sneakers and a baseball cap.
It can be quite challenging to follow fashion trends but once you’re in the game you’ll soon master it. If you want to look and feel good then following trends is the way to go. You don’t have to buy elegant and stylish clothes. Rock your old clothes and create your own style. Remember, trends are predicted, so why not start your own one?
