Rocking the Daisies 2012
Not even the wind, cold or rain could dampen the spirits of the 15 thousand strong festival goers that made the journey from Cape Town to Darling (changed to Carling for the weekend) for Rocking the Daisies 2012. They drove, cycled and walked – all in the name of the environment and a good party – to enjoy the first festival of the summer season.
Not only was the line-up the best in Rocking the Daisies history but the sheer size of the festival coupled with the impressive organisation were enough to set a new high standard for music festivals in Cape Town. There was literally something for everyone… the eco-conscious were satiated with the plethora of recycle stations as well as the Black Label free beer for stompies initiative, the rockers were kept busy with the long list of SA’s band royalty and those looking for the groove were kept bouncing till the wee hours of the morning in the Red Bull tent, this is not to even mention the cinema, numerous food stalls and other forms of entertainment.
The highlight of the weekend would have to be headline act Bloc Party but SA’s best bands gave them a good run for their money with mind blowing performances by the likes of Isochronous and December Streets.
