Bridge Rally – What is being done to make change?
A lot of complaints have been flying around about how poor public education is. But what has been done to change that? Who is wiling to implement that change?
It’s very easy to complain about how other people aren’t doing their jobs properly. But the real question is- what are you doing? “The greatest enemy to human potential is their comfort zone.” This is the current challenge.
The NPA once said “The people shall govern”. But are we really governing? Everyone would like to see their country prosperous, but no one is willing to put those good ideas into practical use.
When are we going to use that right? Because with every day we ignore it the more talent we are wasting.
Bridge (formed in 2009) is one of the organisations that is willing to do that change.
Bridge is an organisation that connects good ideas to practical implementations. Its mission and vision focuses mainly on the purpose of education. Seeing that the key to success is education, the prosperity of any country depends entirely on the hands of education.
Sometimes teachers (facilitators) make the mistake of focusing on the idea and concept of learning, other than on the child.”There won’t be any change if we are not generating equality,” say’s Dr Mampele Rampele. When a child goes to school, that child expects to learn and grow. But if the focus is too much on academic, then there won’t be any growth. Without growth there’s no lesson learnt. The focus on academics and students should be equal.
Statistics has it that:
- 100 Students go to school
- 40 Get to the stage of matrices
- 28 Pass Matrices
- 4 Go to university
- 1 Graduates
By revisiting our priorities, the movement from cradle to career is possible.
Another way forward would be by looking at other countries for examples. Other countries have other routes for their young people to follow other than sending them to University. Reality is, of the 100% of people applying for University only 5% get accepted.
“It’s now time to move from diagnosis to active citizens,” say’s Mr John Gilmour. ”How am I citizens?”
This is the kind of question should be a daily question. That’s if we want to see our country prosperous.
