Last minute plans for Valentine’s Day
Valentine’s Day is here! If you haven’t started planning yet, you’re in luck because there are scores of romantic events taking place and a number of restaurants with special menus planned.
Cape Town is consistently voted one of the top cities to visit, recognised for its natural beauty, cultural diversity and world class dining opportunities. This Valentine’s Day is your chance to explore Cape Town as a tourist would and enjoy everything that is on offer. Reserve a room at a hotel in Green Point to make sure you’re right in the middle of all the events and venues you won’t want to miss out on.
What to do
Treat your special someone to a weekend they’ll never forget with days filled with fun activities. Sleep in on Saturday morning and then make your way to one (or many) of the fabulous markets which will be taking place. The Old Biscuit Mill is home to perhaps the most well-known market and offers fresh produce, delicious food and drinks, and locally produced clothing and jewellery.
As the sun sets, make your way to Table Mountain. You’ll be able to watch the breathtaking sunset at half the usual price thanks to a Sunset Special. There are also romantic, under the stars concerts taking place at the Castle of Good Hope and Kirstenbosch Gardens.
Pay a visit to the luxuriously comfortable Steelworx Bar Lounge where you and your Valentine will be serenaded with live jazz and blues floating from the baby grand piano while enjoying delicious cocktails and gourmet burgers.
For the ultimate in romance, book tickets to see a movie at the Galileo Open Air Cinema at the V&A Waterfront. On Valentine’s Day, you’ll be treated to a viewing of romantic movie The Vow under the stars. Be sure to pack a picnic of their favourite goodies for extra brownie points.
