Getting out and about in March
There is always so much to do in the Western Cape and this month is no different. We’ve taken the guesswork out of it for you and rounded up some of the best and most fun events in the Cape. All you’ll need to do is convince your family and friends to join you.
Cape Town Carnival
The city is going to play host to the biggest and brightest street parade with hundreds of people expected to make their way through the streets on March 14. This year’s theme, Elemental, celebrates the forces which make us and the world we live in – fire, water, air and earth. Expect to see elaborately costumed dancers, performers and musicians.
Lamberts Bay Crayfish and Cultural Festival
The hotspot of crayfish in South Africa opens its doors on the weekend of March 20 to 22 for days of seafood, music, activities and unique West Coast culture. The usually quiet town, just two hours away from Cape Town, becomes abuzz with activity for three days of fun. Why not pack your goodies in your bakkie and spend the weekend camping on the beach under your Bantam canopy.
Hout Bay Sandcastle Competition
Taking part on March 21 at Valley Pre-Primary School, this event promises to be a whole lot of fun for the whole family. Head to the beach in the early morning with your buckets and spades for a fun-filled day of sea, sand and sun.
Cape Town International Jazz Festival
One of the hottest tickets in the Cape Town social calendar, the festival takes place on March 27 and 28. If you don’t have tickets for the event but you’re keen to see some jazz, a free concert is to be held on March 25. This year’s line-up includes some of the best international and local musicians.
