Completing his final 20 years at an Executive level as an HR/ Senior HR Manager representing the HR discipline as Head of Business Unit, Willie can list just some of his successes such:

  • Successful retrenchment of 2000 employees with a Section 189 process
  • Managed a very successful turnaround in Industrial Relations Turmoil on a Business Unit.
  • Concluded a working agreement within 5 Business Units which altered Conditions of Employment covering a spectrum of 3 different unions / associations (Total cost to implement new agreement was R80 million and was approved by the Company)
  • Successful people integration of one Business Unit to another following consultation with different unions at each of the two Business Units.
  • Improving Employment Equity (HDSA) numbers from 6 % in 2006 to 42 % in 2014.
  • Successfully managed the dismissal of 539 AMCU members who staged an illegal strike and stopped a workforce totaling 4000 employees
  • The successful people build up at a Business unit via recruitment, selection, staffing, induction, training and placement resulting in an increase from 2000 to 7000 people over a period of 4 years.
