Bergwaters Eco Lodge and Spa is situated in Waterval Onder, a hamlet in Mpumalanga.
The lodge offers affordable accommodation to visitors. There is a restaurant on the premises. Meals are served on the verandah or the or by firelight in the evenings. Rates are based on a dinner, bed and breakfast or self catering basis. Lunches and picnic baskets are available by prior arrangement. The spa offers health and beauty treatments for ultimate relaxation. Conference facilities are also available.
Activities offered on the property include tennis and squash, swimming and trout fishing. There is also a fully equipped gym and sauna. Walk along the banks of the Joubert stream and discover rock pools or enjoy hiking up the mountains with lovely views. The Lodge also has a pool table and dart board. Other activities include horse riding, rock climbing, abseiling and mountain biking. Popular attractions in the area include the Elands Waterfall not far from the lodge, Sudwala Caves, Blyde River Canyon and Dullstroom.
Accommodation consists of chalets, family units and cottages. The chalets can accommodate up to 3 people and have an en-suite bathroom. Family units comprise of 2 bedrooms with a shared bathroom and can accommodate up to 4 people. The chalets and family units have tea and coffee making facilities provided. The cottages have a fully equipped kitchen for self catering purposes. These have 2 bedrooms with an en-suite shower, a second bathroom and a lounge. All accommodation is air conditioned and has TV’s with DSTV.
Travelling from Johannesburg and Pretoria, drive past Witbank, Middelburg, Belfast and Machadodorp. Keep on the N4 to Nelspruit via Waterval Boven. Pass the turnoff to Waterval Boven. Travel through the tunnel, after 3km you will find the signpost to Bergwaters Lodge on your right. Driving time is about 2 hours and 30 minutes from Johannesburg or Pretoria.
