Enjoy Loftus Versfeld Rugby Test Matches Live

South Africa has won the Rugby World Cup twice and there have only been three countries ever to accomplish this.

Rugby Matches South AfricaYou’ll find if the Springboks are playing, South Africa’s social engagements usually reflect this. Families either get together at the local sports bar or host a braai – wherever you find yourself during the test matches, there will definitely be a big screen. BUT, there is absolutely no substitute for attending a live match.

Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria is one of the most difficult places for opposition teams to take on South Africa. The stadium was named after the man who founded organised rugby in Pretoria, Robert Loftus Versfeld. Loftus has also become home to the Super Rugby team – the Blue Bulls, who have been the most successful team in the country over the past decade.

” Experience the wild side of South Africa – one of three countries ever to have won the Rugby World Cup twice.”

The atmosphere at Loftus is nothing short of electric on test match days and even the non-Blue Bull supporters are welcome, when the Springboks are in town for a test match.  You’ll also find that tickets are usually sold out for games against old rugby enemies such as New Zealand, England and Australia.

Some sporting stadiums, have sections that are known for colourful characters or rowdy behaviour. At Loftus Versfeld this area would have to be the East Stand. Fortunately it is mostly light-hearted banter, but as a New Zealand supporter you wouldn’t want to find yourself sitting among thousands of Bok supporters, especially if the Boks are holding the fort.

If you do have tickets to Loftus, make sure you arrive early as there will be ample parking and you be able to access the stadium with ease. It’s also recommended to attend the carnival-like atmosphere in the restaurants and bars near the stadium before the kickoff. Consume a couple of boerewors rolls before the match and make sure you have a few packets of biltong to chew on during the game.

You are sure to be pulled into the wave of emotion as the teams run out and it will remain that way for the singing of the anthems. However, if the Springboks lose, do not go to Hatfield if you are an opposition supporter as this is where most of the supporters go for a few drinks after the game.
