Woodifields Music on the Map Experience
Excitement is in the air ahead of the imminent arrival of spring; not because of blooming buds and colourful landscapes, but because of the inaugural Woodifields Music on the Map Experience on Saturday, 2 September. Food stalls, craft beer, and a festive family atmosphere including a 600 square meter tent (so the weather can’t spoil our fun) are all at the ready to welcome Garden Routers to spring, to the festival and to the awesome local talent ready to set the Southern Cape alight with their music.
Woodifields, the oldest farm in George and the home of the well-known Map of Africa outside Wilderness, is going all out to host a music experience rivalling the best with a bustling atmosphere, fabulous food and beer stalls. A Glastonbury-light if you wish. Organizers Thousand Sensations and interface by goji, well-known for organizing the fantastic craft beer festival in Wilderness every year, together with Bruce Jackson of Woodifields Farm, are on pins and needles in anticipation. They are already putting the finishing touches on the amazing (permanent) stage built especially for the experience.
The idea of the music experience is to provide a performing platform for local and national bands. With the performance roster filling up fast, the restaurants hosting the food stalls are already in prep mode to have everything done and delicious come spring. Headlining this year is well-known Capetonian act BrotherBrother with local acts Still Crasy from Plettenberg Bay and Rebel Remedy from George as well as Prism Shore already confirmed. Celebrated and well-loved performer Mel Botes has also confirmed his place on the roster for the evening’s entertainment.
The Woodifields Music on the Map experience will be held on Saturday, 2 September from 14h00 – 21h00. Ample secure parking is available on the farm premises and tickets are available at a steal for only R85 per person, R70 for students, and entrance is free for kids under 12.
